Brian B. Su
U.S.–Asia Strategy Speaker · Geopolitical Risk Lecturer · Podcast & Media Guest
Independent Director, Nasdaq-listed company · Founder, Artisan Business Group · Bilingual: English & Mandarin · Based in Springfield, IL — Active across Greater China, Southeast Asia, and the Americas
"Not a policy commentator. A practitioner. Seventeen years advising on the market entries, partner decisions, supply chain shifts, and governance calls that actually play out between the United States and Asia — most of them confidential, all of them ending in a site selected, a partner declined, a supplier chosen, or a board seat filled."
Brian B. Su is the Founder and President of Artisan Business Group, Inc., a boutique cross-border advisory firm specializing in U.S.–Asia strategy, geopolitical risk, and regulatory intelligence. His practice spans CFIUS review navigation, export controls and economic sanctions, UFLPA and forced-labor compliance, supply-chain realignment, U.S. market entry, cross-border due diligence, China regulatory countermeasures, global mobility, and family office advisory. He serves as Independent Director and Chairman of the Compensation Committee at a Nasdaq-listed company.
A U.S. citizen since 1998 with more than 36 years of U.S. residency, Brian brings deep cross-cultural fluency built through decades of hands-on advisory work across Greater China, Southeast Asia, and North America. He advises family offices, institutional investors, corporate boards, and government-related stakeholders on navigating political and regulatory uncertainty, protecting cross-border capital, and identifying strategic growth opportunities.
He speaks at conferences, private briefings, and executive workshops across the United States and internationally — in English and Mandarin Chinese.
What sets Brian apart is the vantage point. He works from Springfield, Illinois — not New York, not Washington, not Shanghai — which means he advises companies the way they actually operate: mid-market, multi-jurisdictional, allergic to consultant-speak, and far more interested in what to do Monday morning than in another panel on great-power competition. Clients describe his style as candid, specific, and culturally bilingual in ways that translate directly to better decisions.

Featured Topics
After the Thaw: Re-Engaging China Without Repeating the Last Decade's Mistakes
Engagement with China is reopening — but the country companies walked away from isn't the one waiting for them now. This talk is for leaders weighing a return, and it's built around a single discipline: going back in with clear eyes. What's actually changed on the ground, which of the old assumptions will cost you, and how to structure a re-entry that captures the upside without rebuilding the exposure that got so many firms burned the first time.
Best for: Corporate boards, C-suites of mid-market companies with prior or potential China exposure, manufacturing and industrial executives, and investment committees evaluating renewed Asia allocation.
Neither Decouple nor Double Down: A Corporate Playbook for a Decade of U.S.–China Competition
The last decade was an experiment in competition, and the results are in: nobody fully decoupled, and nobody is going back to the way things were. U.S.–China rivalry is the operating environment now, not a passing storm — and the companies that come out ahead aren't the ones with the strongest opinion on China. They're the ones whose strategy survives the next flare-up. This session hands executives a decision framework for the next ten years: how to tell real supply-chain resilience from expensive theater, how to read policy direction before it hardens into regulation, and how to size China bets that hold whether relations warm or cool.
Best for: Corporate boards and C-suites setting multi-year strategy, heads of strategy and corporate development, supply chain and operations leaders at manufacturers and industrials with China exposure, private equity and investment committees weighing Asia bets, and trade associations briefing their members.
The New Compliance Map: Sanctions, Export Controls, and Cross-Border Risk After 2025
The rules about who you can sell to, source from, partner with, and invest alongside have been redrawn — and they're still moving. Most leadership teams know the risk is real but can't get a straight answer on what to do about it. This session turns a sprawling regulatory picture into a working map: where the genuine exposure sits, which controls actually matter for your business, and how to build a compliance posture that holds up when the next rule drops.
Best for: Legal and compliance teams, mid-market CFOs and General Counsel, in-house compliance officers at companies with Asia operations, private equity compliance committees, and financial institutions servicing Asia clients.
The Battleground Sectors: Finding Growth in AI, EVs, Clean Energy, Aerospace, and Rare Earths
These industries are where the U.S.–China contest is being decided — and that's precisely why they're throwing off opportunity. Rare earths and critical minerals sit underneath all of it: the same materials that move EV motors, wind turbines, and jet engines also feed the chips behind AI, which is exactly why Beijing has turned export licensing into a strategic lever. Add subsidies and tightening export controls on top, and supply chains are being redrawn fast, opening gaps that didn't exist three years ago. The firms reading those gaps early are the ones finding growth: new sourcing and processing positions, reshored production, allied-market openings, and partnerships that weren't on the table before. This session maps where each sector is heading, what the competition is creating rather than only threatening, and how to move while the field is still forming.
Best for: Growth and innovation executives, corporate development and M&A teams, leaders in semiconductors and AI infrastructure, electric mobility and batteries, clean energy and grid, aerospace and defense supply chains, and critical-minerals and materials ventures; venture and growth-equity investors; and economic development organizations and industry associations.
The Taiwan Contingency: Risk Exposure and Exit Strategy Before the Decision Is Made for You
China's military buildup across the Strait is no longer a distant scenario, and most companies with Taiwan exposure have an opinion on the risk but no plan for it. This session closes that gap. It maps where your real dependency sits — direct operations, the supply chain beneath you, and chokepoints like advanced semiconductors that cascade through firms that don't even consider themselves "China-exposed" — then walks through scenario planning across blockade, gray-zone pressure, and open crisis, the early warning signs to watch, and a staged contingency and exit playbook you can build while you still have time.
Best for: Corporate boards and enterprise risk committees, COOs and supply chain leaders, executives with manufacturing, sourcing, or sales exposure to Taiwan and the region (semiconductors, electronics, automotive, industrials), chief risk officers, insurers underwriting Asia exposure, and institutional investors with concentrated technology or regional positions.
Wealth, Identity, and Mobility: Cross-Border Planning for High-Net-Worth Asian Families in 2026
For high-net-worth Asian families, the central question has quietly shifted — from where to put the money to where the family belongs. Residency, succession, asset protection, and the next generation's future are now tangled together across three or four jurisdictions at once. This talk walks advisors and institutions through how these families actually think, what's driving their decisions in 2026, and where the planning most often breaks down.
Best for: Multi-family offices, private banks, wealth management firms with Asian HNW clients, immigration law firms, trust and estate practitioners, and RIA advisors with cross-border client bases.
China's Counter-Offensive: Reading Beijing's Rulebook from the Other Side
Washington's export controls and sanctions get the headlines, but Beijing has been building its own leverage — and it's starting to use it. Critical-mineral export licensing on gallium, germanium, graphite, and antimony; the Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law and its Unreliable Entity List; PIPL and data-localization rules; the anti-espionage statute that turned ordinary due diligence into legal risk. This session maps China's countermeasure toolkit, shows where it intersects with your supply chain and deal pipeline, and gives leaders a framework for operating inside two competing rulebooks at once — without running afoul of either.
Best for: General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officers, supply chain and procurement leaders, cross-border M&A teams, companies sourcing from or selling into China, and trade associations briefing members on dual-compliance exposure.
Before You Wire the Funds: Cross-Border Due Diligence and Partner Vetting That Actually Catches Red Flags
Most cross-border deals that go bad don't fail because the opportunity was weak — they fail because the diligence was. This session is a practical walkthrough of how real partner vetting works across the U.S.–Asia corridor: beneficial-ownership tracing through layered structures, the governance red flags that don't show up in a credit report, the compliance and sanctions screening that should happen before an LOI, and the cultural and regulatory signals that separate a credible counterparty from a well-presented risk. Built from cases where the difference between proceeding and walking away came down to one question nobody thought to ask.
Best for: Corporate development and M&A teams, private equity investment committees, family offices evaluating direct deals, venture investors in cross-border tech, and General Counsel overseeing transaction risk.
Additional topics — including UFLPA and forced-labor compliance, CFIUS review navigation, China regulatory countermeasures, global mobility and investment migration, cross-border due diligence, family office governance, and EB-5 program intelligence — are available on request. Every engagement is custom-built for the audience.
